Product Review: I Ordered a Vibedration Hydration Pack, Here's What I Thought
When I attended my first music festival, I purchased a flower crown—now cliché, then fashionable—and set off for Dover, Delaware to attend the 2013 edition of Firefly Music Festival. With my GA ticket in hand and the crown displayed proudly on my head, I was ready to discover new artists, see those whose music I already enjoyed, but more so, to discover the allure of music festivals through firsthand experience.
What I learned in those few days? I arrived drastically underprepared. I didn’t need a flower crown—that would, by the way, be lost anyway—I needed a hydration pack. As any experienced festival goer will affirm, staying hydrated is perhaps the toughest part of festival season, where it’s easy to forget to routinely drink water when dancing, studying a festival map, or sprinting from stage to stage. But in the intense heat of the season, forgetting simply isn’t an option, no matter how tiresome carrying multiple water bottles may be.
Since 2013 I have travelled to various music festivals across several states, captivated by the authenticity of each experience, in love with the energy of the events. Yet in the four-year gap between 2013 and now—welcome, 2017—I only chose to invest in a hydration pack recently. Why? Well, while Camelbak offers a line of functional and durable hydration packs more than suitable for festival season, I wanted one with personality, with—dare I say—flair. Aware that I would continuously use the hydration pack I purchased, I was seeking one that would complement the vibrancy and eclectic style of festival season fashion. To find exactly what it was that I was looking for, I turned to Vibedration.
A company founded by self proclaimed “outdoor enthusiasts” and “action sport junkies” with a “love for music festivals,” Vibedration markets hydration packs that cater to those like me: attendees who desire a hydration pack that expresses shades of the owner’s spirit, attendees who want to be more than mere attendees: tastemakers.
Vibedration appeals to the style of just about every festival goer, offering hydration packs in six distinct categories: Holla-Graphic, Hawaiian Vibes, 420, Animal Style, Hideout, and Hippie Hydration. The packs, coming in small, medium, and large sizes, feature bright colors and vibrant designs befitting of the enthusiasm of festival season. When Vibedration announced its holiday sale, the question was not would I buy one, but which one would I buy? Given the various options featured on Vibedration’s website, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the choices, but keep in mind that to be overwhelmed by the expanse of options available is to be overwhelmed in the best possible way.

I ordered Vibedration’s medium sized hydration pack, a size that accommodates 4.5 pints of water at a time. The pack features two different zippered compartments for storage, and a third zippered compartment in which one can find the pack’s refillable and re-sealable water pouch. I was immediately impressed by the design of the water pouch, as I did not have to completely remove the pouch from the compartment in order to fill it. In my previous use of Camelbak hydration packs, there was nothing more frustrating than trying to fit the newly filled pouch of water back into the Camelbak’s compartment, a task that inevitably led to the spilling of much of the water I had just filled the pouch with. This meant more trips to water refill stations, and less time spent at sets.
Perhaps my favorite feature of the Vibedration pack, however, was the mesh padding on the part of the hydration pack that would rest against my back. The four panels of thick padding ensured that the pack would sit comfortably when in use, even when filled with water. Each pack is adjustable, causing fit to be a non issue.
For those in the market for a hydration pack, Vibedration’s products are reasonably priced and crafted from a strong material that will withstand the elements of a festival—for we’ve all been caught in the spontaneous thunderstorm—without rips or tears.
With each pack equipped with an extra mouthpiece in addition to the standard piece already supplied, you might spend just as much time at the water refill station as you do when you attend a festival with a standard sized water bottle (16.9 oz) if you choose to share that second mouthpiece with a friend, that is.
