Thomas Gold Offers Stylistic Twist in New Song, "Better Versions of Myself"
Just when we thought Thomas Gold couldn’t be more talented than he already is, he shows us a “better version of himself” via—what better—new music.
Gold released recent single, “Better Versions of Myself” on January 13th through Armada Music, the Dutch record label founded in part by trance staple, Armin Van Buuren. Finding its beginning in a soothing guitar melody complemented by an equally refined yet uncredited female vocal, the track bespeaks a maturity reflective of Gold’s growth as a DJ/producer. Strengthened by its incorporation of distinct future house elements, the third single from Gold’s forthcoming third studio album confirms Gold’s transition from previous productions in the trance genre towards those more firmly rooted within the house genre. Gold uses “Better Versions of Myself” as a platform to demonstrate his versatility; indeed, there are several “versions” to Thomas Gold in terms of his production abilities, capabilities that span genres.
Gold is frequently remembered for his 2011 collaboration with Australian DJ/producer, Dirty South, “Alive,” a track that in many ways defined the summer season in which it was released. The German DJ/producer looks to 2017 as a year integral in the redefinition and expansion of his sound. While Gold’s third album is awaited with anticipation, sample what is to come with “Better Versions of Myself,” linked below.
