SoundCloud to allow DJ Mixes Back on Platform
It has been reported that SoundCloud founder Eric Wahlforss has released a statement that SoundCloud will no longer remove DJ mixes due to copyright infringement for free and paid subscribers.
DJs, fans, and everyone in between know first hand about how the platform hasn't been DJ mix friendly since the copyright infringement algorithm was introduced back in 2010. The algorithm is used to identify copyright material and matches it with a database of copyright material. The identifier has been proven to be flawed and has made mistakes taking down uploads belonging to artists themselves such as Kaskade.
This algorithm made it much harder for the little guys to break out on the streaming service because of the permission and approval to use the copyrighted material. But SoundCloud plans to change all of that since a new deal has been signed with multiple music licensing entities.
The German based company has also announced it plans to pay artists for their streams just as Spotify has done. Check back for the latest updates on this new exciting revelation.
