Porter Robinson Slams Current EDM Climate in Recently Deleted Tweet
Some would say that the dance music sphere has been quite interesting lately, what with new releases from Calvin Harris, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Marshmello, Slushii, and the recent drama stirred up by “Faded” producer, Zhu, as per the debut of his “Nightcrawler” album announcement video. Yet one prominent DJ would beg to differ, or did at some point today, in a tweet that has since been deleted. The 140-character diss— “There is almost nothing exciting going on in electronic music right now, and lately that’s what’s been motivating me the most”—is reminiscent of the DJ’s past Twitter induced drama about a month or so ago when—you guessed it—none other than “Language” producer, Porter Robinson, publically disowned all of his music, with the exception of eleven tracks.
Porter took to Twitter this afternoon to lament the “dull” state of the EDM scene, a drabness that the DJ cited as the source of his inspiration, assumedly in an endeavor to craft more music, to expand his now reduced musical library. Whatever Porter next puts out, it’ll be sure to shake up the scene.
