Axwell & Ingrosso Recruit Kid Ink for New Single, "I Love You"
We don’t just like them, we “love” them—and via an exclusive new collaboration with “Show Me” rapper, Kid Ink, our affection has deepened for former Swedish House constituents, Axwell & Ingrosso.
The track, “I Love You,” officially dropped a mere eighteen hours ago although the single had been previously previewed at India’s Sunburn Festival over the New Year’s holiday weekend. The single shows shades of pop influence, elements that pair favorably with Kid Ink’s vocals, the rapper having previously worked with other pop music entities like Fifth Harmony.
Anyone acquainted with Axwell & Ingrosso’s characteristic electro/progressive house style will recognize “I Love You” to be a deviation from the duo’s usual aesthetic, albeit a welcome departure. “We wanted to just go heavy in a fresh sound to start 2017 and we think we achieved that—and collaborating with Kid Ink was something we’d wanted to do for awhile,” Axwell & Ingrosso comment. “I Love You” certainly emerges as a track indicative of the pair’s pursuit of the “fresh” sound sought by the duo.
While there is no promise that Kid Ink will be making any cameos, Axwell & Ingrosso plan to return to New York—their first time in the metropolis in two years—to headline two consecutive evenings of shows at Depot 52 on March 17th and 18th. Shortly after, the group will fly to Miami to close Ultra Music Festival at the festival’s coveted Main Stage on one of the festival’s three evenings.
The radio friendly track--a designation not commonly aligned with the EDM genre given elevated beat counts considered unsuitable for stations--will undoubtedly begin to cycle in ques on various radio stations, but for now, sample the track below.
