Katy Perry Reportedly Pursuing a Romance With Calvin Harris
“Bad Blood” is thicker than water, and unlike its counterpart, never evaporates, it seems.
Taylor Swift slammed “Roar” singer, Katy Perry, back in 2015 via the release of the single, a track said to be written in retaliation once back-up dancers on Swift’s “Red” tour abandoned Swift for Perry’s “Prism” tour. That Perry engaged in a relationship with Swift’s former flame, singer/songwriter John Mayer, has also been credited as a source of fuel for the fire between the two superstars.
Coming on the heels of her latest tour announcement, the “Witness” tour, Katy Perry has dropped what many are calling a delayed musical response to Bad Blood, “Swish Swish.” The lyrics targeting one for being “calculating” and “tired,” it doesn’t take much examination of the song’s lyrics to guess that the single is Swift aimed. The phonetic similarity between the song’s chorus “swish swish bish” and the surname “Swift” further obviates things. The icing on the cake? A scorning verse from Nicki Minaj, known to have feuded with Swift on Twitter prior.
Perry understandably bitter to the country singer turned pop phenomenon, tabloids are now taking to Perry’s recent collaboration with former Swift beau, Calvin Harris. While the track has yet to be released, Perry’s name was notably among the list of those featured on his forthcoming EP, “Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1,” due June 30th.
Those acquainted with the Perry/Swift drama speculated that her inclusion on the roster of involved artists might be a subtle but clear Swift diss initiated by the “Feel So Close” producer. According to various tabloid sources, Perry and Harris “got very close” during their studio sessions. OK! Magazine reports from an anonymous source “[Katy and Calvin] genuinely have a lot in common…There’s only one goal for Katy now, and that’s for a romance with Calvin to go public.” The veracity of tabloid news always in question, whether the information is accurate or exaggerated can’t sincerely be known, but it doesn’t seem farfetched.
We’ll have to wait to see if Harris “Slides” on this one.
