Malaa Just Dropped an Infectious New Single
Consistently the gloomiest day of the week, Monday just got a little darker for house music enthusiasts, those cognizant that the classification of “darker” in any other context would denote the unfavorable, yet in this instance bespeaks just the opposite: a new Malaa release.
The masked crusader of house music's latest track, “Contagious,” trails “Bylina,” Malaa’s soulful February 6th offering. Defined by a steady, thumping bassline that gradually builds to result in a minimalistic yet distinctly house derivative drop, the single’s vocal hook, the repetition of the song’s title, “contagious,” loops as the bassline rises and falls. A more demure Malaa production in its repetition of a singular word set to a measured, consistent bassline, Contagious lacks the assertive monologue championing house music for which Malaa has come to be known, yet does not forfeit quality in its deficiency of the classic Malaa voiceover.
Contagious arrives as Malaa teases additional forthcoming music, namely a remix of DJ Snake, Travis Scott, and Migos’ “Oh Me Oh My.” “Remix coming soon,” Malaa notes on his Twitter account on March 9th. Contagious will hold us over until then.
