Diplo is Currently Working on "100 Songs" at The Moment
The expression “less is more” doesn’t pertain to Diplo’s production style, but then again, could anyone have expected it to anyway? Probably not.
The Major Lazer constituent chatted with Zane Lowe of BeatsI for an interview that would touch on Major Lazer’s latest six-track EP, “Know No Better,” released yesterday. The EP was a surprise drop, Lazer fans only expecting the release of the EP’s same titled lead single featuring industry heavyweights Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, and Quavo.
The “Lean On” producer spoke of the difficulty that a Travis Scott billing would invite: “Tracking him [Scott] down though, he became really popular, this last six months, this last year. But I knew where he was sleeping. So I went to his house and woke him up many times to finish this record. I dragged him up off the couch.” One can’t say Diplo isn’t persistent, yet for the constant interruption of Scott’s sleep cycle, the end result proves worthwhile. Diplo goes on to note that he may very likely appear on Camila Cabello’s debut solo album.
While Travis Scott may now return to REM sleep now that Know No Better is complete, Diplo will continue to spend many a sleepless night in the studio it seems, the producer admitting that he’s currently working on “over 100 tracks at the moment,” an overwhelming collection of musical projects that include another Major Lazer EP on which “Swish Swish” vocalist, Katy Perry, may appear, an EP with Starrah, and another EP that will combine the talents of Santigold, Desiigner, Lil Yachty, and D.R.A.M. The DJ did not comment on potential release dates for the various endeavors, but the declaration that Diplo is working on a total of 100 tracks ensures that there'll be new Diplo music to look forward to for a very long time.
