Diplo Presumably Deletes Latest Single, "Bankroll"
Diplo’s latest single, “Bankroll,” won’t be raking in the bills, it seems. Noteworthy for an unprecedented first on Bieber’s behalf—the Canadian singer aligned himself with fellow rappers on the track, Rich the Kid and Young Thug, by spitting a verse of his own—Bankroll married more of a trap-esque beat with hip hop elements.
While the single materialized as a fresh new style from Diplo, some listeners weren’t pleased with the take, with some Twitter users commenting that the song was “the worst thing [they’d] ever heard,” and another remarking in all caps for emphasis “WORST SONG OF THE YEAR SQUAD RIGHT HERE.”
The “Boy Oh Boy” producer retweeted some of the negative Twitter statements on his Twitter page, a move considered quizzical at best. The song later vanished from Diplo’s SoundCloud artist page where it originally appeared, presumably deleted by the DJ before it could be further streamed. Does Diplo simply not react well to criticism, or is there something deeper at play beyond the song's surface? With the song recently disappeared from the Internet, it seems that much like the song's original absence, the reasoning for its deleting will remain a mystery.
