It's Only February, But Elephante's "The Zoo Vol. 3" Will Be a Top Mix of 2017
As Sirius XM satellite radio listeners can attest, his Bishop collab, “Closer” led Tim Wu—otherwise known as “Elephante”—to dominate XM’s channel 51, “BPM”; the track quickly became a staple of the channel in previous months, thriving alongside releases like Audien’s “Crazy Love,” and “Into You (3LAU Remix).”
As “Closer” pervaded XM airwaves, Elephante increased in acclaim as he embarked on his 2016 “I Am The Elephante” tour, a tour appropriately named after his debut EP. Despite the tour having roots in the year of 2016, Elephante has extended the initiative to 2017, adding tour dates in a variety of cities, performing on the tour tentatively until April 21st; “More Dates TBA” Elephante’s official website declares after the final April 21st tour date, an indicator that there isn’t much truly “final” about that date after all.
Known for his sleek progressive house offerings, fans of the “Catching On” producer have waited nearly one-year for new Elephante, more specifically, the third installment of Elephante’s SoundCloud mix “The Zoo.” Although undoubtedly consumed with 2017 tour coordination, Elephante has uploaded a follow up to The Zoo’s sequel that elicits a “wow” with each track transition.
Demonstrating an absolutely unparalleled fluidity in track transitioning, Elephante manages to collect and assemble major radio tracks—i.e. “Heathens,” Twenty-One Pilots, and “Shape Of You,” Ed Sheeran, “Smoke Filled Room,” Mako—bigroom and progressive heavy hitters— “Watch Out For This,” Major Lazer, “Ignite,” Zedd—into a one-hour mix that exhibits Elephante’s technical prowess, refined style, and creativity of artistry.
Given the mix’s multifaceted magnificence, Elephante’s “The Zoo Vol. 3” naturally surfaces as one of the mixes destined to be one of the best of 2017—a credit to Elephante’s ability as a DJ/producer, as it’s only February.
