BREAKING NEWS! Insomniac announces cancellation of Electric Daisy Carnival NY in 2017
The statement read, “Although EDC New York 2016 was one of my favorites hosted in the Big Apple, we’ve decided to take a break in 2017. We hope many of you East Coast Headliners will join us in Vegas. We’ll have an Art Car sound system paying homage to New York DJs past and present.
As I write this, I’ve gotta mention all the hard work and creativity that is going into the completely reimagined kineticFIELD, as well as an entirely new ADDITIONAL stage. The team and I are energized about an epic EDC Las Vegas 2017!”

"Happy Holidays, Headliners! Whenever we get to the end of the year, I like to check in with all of you and talk about some of the things we’ve got planned for the future. So here we go...
Our New Year’s Eve events are definitely set to start the year off proper! We’ve got the Factory 93 warehouse party happening in downtown LA as well as The Chainsmokers at the LA Convention Center. By popular demand, Countdown is expanding to two nights this year. You’ll be happy to know that all stages will be hosted outside in massive tents...with plenty of room to groove your way into the New Year!
Beyond Wonderland SoCal will see Alice and the Queen embark on a strange and wondrous new voyage, but is returning to its original home at the NOS. Not only will Dreamstate and Bassrush have their own stages for both nights, but as promised, we'll be building a new outdoor structure for Bassrush so we can accommodate all you bassheads!
EDC will continue its journey from city to city, bringing the spirit of love and happiness across the globe. With everything that’s been happening in the world, we feel it is our mission to spread as much positivity around as possible.
Speaking of that, let's talk EDC INDIA! I want to thank all the beautiful people who made our first event such a success. The energy, the vibes, and the entire city were amazing; we’re already planning for next year. Also, I’m happy to report that EDC Japan is FINALLY on for 2017 and will be coming to Tokyo next spring. We’ve got a great venue picked out, and our circuitGROUNDS stage will actually be right on the beach! I’ll be sharing more details on that this coming week. We will continue to grow EDC Mexico and establish it as our second largest Insomniac festival, and I hope to have some big news about EDC UK very soon.

Nocturnal Wonderland will remain our premier camping festival in SoCal, but will move to a different weekend in 2017. As our longest-running festival, Nocturnal has always been about celebrating the roots of rave culture, and next year we're going even deeper by bringing a more boutique, blacklit, truly Back to Basics approach to the music and the production. And don’t forget the newest addition to our Insomniac festival family: the inaugural edition of Middlelands. We’re pulling out all the stops to make this experience different from anything we’ve ever done before, so brush up on your Renaissance history and prepare for a real adventure for the ages!
Less than 24 hours ago, we had four very special events going off at the same time: Factory 93 and Bassrush in LA, We Are NRG in San Francisco, and Dreamstate in Mexico. 2017 will not only be about expanding each of these events individually, but bringing them together at our festivals so the whole community can unite to inspire and connect with one another. We'll also be doing more Basscon shows in 2017 than ever before.
Outside of festivals, we'll be relaunching our Insomniac clothing and merchandise. Style has always been such a huge part of dance music, and we're excited to be translating our culture creatively into a unique fashion line. Look out for the drop of our new online store, where we’ll feature all kinds of limited edition items.
While Night Owl Radio continues to reach more and more Headliners, we’ve kicked off a new podcast at Insomniac HQ. It’s a monthly show called Wide Awake Stories, and I’ll be coming through the studio on Tuesday, January 3 to chat with the Insomniac Editorial team to go deeper into some of our 2017 plans. I hope you can tune in!
There’s so much more to come, and the team and I are 100% committed to bringing it all to you. I love each and every one of you, and I hope you have a safe and happy New Year!" - Pasquale Rotella
