D.C. Met Dirtybird BBQ This Weekend in Tasteful Blend of Beats & Eats

"Dirty" beats, family, and sumptuous bbq--just a little taste of exactly what went on at the Brau Brewery in Washington D.C. this weekend on the first stop of the Dirtybird Records label's three-city Dirtybird BBQ event tour. Label spearhead Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird crew kicked off the summer season by hosting another one of the label's infamous Dirtybird branded BBQ's, bringing together East coast fans for an electric day of burgers and bangers.
Dishing out a mix of tech house, deep house, techno, bass house, booty house, and more, VonStroke, Justin Martin, Kill Frenzy, Walker & Royce, and Weiss filled the day with groovy, varied vibes as event attendees filled their plates with heaping servings of hearty barbecue. The day's party continued into the evening as the well fed barbecue goers headed straight to event organizer, U Street Music Hall, for an after party that would, in characteristic Dirtybird after hours style, bleed into the early AM.
The annual Dirtybird barbecue is how the Dirtybird collective began to gain notoriety, the original barbecue landmarked in San Francisco. Mr. Grillson, aka "the man behind the bbq," would cook for smaller scale parties thrown in the park by the group. As the label's fan base expanded, the afternoon, park localized barbecue grew into the celebrated and ticketed affair that it is today.
Once the label attracted a solid community of devoted fans, Dirtybird expanded its barbecues to cities in various states and locations, touring the country, and duly, hosting a variety of musical events transcending the barbecue aesthetic. The annual barbecue event is a nod to both the longevity and originality of the label; the preservation of the event is a nod to the original barbecue parties that would eventually jumpstart the label's fame, and similarly, remains a unique musical event of its own kind, a style of event remarkably unparalleled by any other label.
Dirtybird will next head to barbecue location vote winner, Las Vegas, on May 20th, before returning where it all began, San Francisco, on June 4th. Tickets to the respective events may be purchased via the button below.
