Dirtybird Label to Host Dirtybird BBQ in D.C. This Weekend
This isn’t your average family BBQ, unless of course, your typical BBQ generally includes techno beats delivered among heaping plates of food doused in barbecue sauce, in which case, you probably belong to the Dirtybird Records' family.
The label sets its sights on Washington D.C.’s Brau Brewery as the site of the label’s annual Dirtybird BBQ, hosted at the craft brewery on Saturday, May 13th. The D.C. date is the first of three stops on the label’s three-city U.S. tour this year; the subsequent BBQ’s will be held on May 20th in Las Vegas, and June 4th in San Francisco. The Dirtybird name is known for its summer BBQ events, “traveling party series” that couple label heavyweights with fans in a familial, laidback setting. Previous BBQs have been hosted in Miami, Seattle, and Brooklyn.
Dirtybird Records founder, Claude VonStroke will headline the BBQ, flanked by Justin Martin, Kill Frenzy, Walker & Royce, and Weiss. The show will begin at 3 PM, and conclude at 9 PM. There will be a free shuttle service to the venue, information on the shuttle appears below.
In characteristic BBQ style, attendees may purchase plates of “authentic BBQ goodness” for $21, a cost that appears in addition to the ticket price, beginning at $40. Vegetarian options will also be available, as well as food trucks, parked on site. D.C. Brau will be serving cold brews throughout the day.
The BBQ will revive its “Best in Show” contest for its second year, a competition that calls on ticket holders to ready their costumes and totems in preparation. The undisputed highlight of the BBQ, however, will be the annual Dirtybird compilation featuring new music from Dirtybird veterans and “new recruits alike.” The compilation is slated for a May 19th release, but D.C. Brau visitors will be treated to a preview of the compilation at the event.
