Vice shuts down Thump, Vice Sports in company re-organization

The sector of news that trains its narrative eye on electronic dance music has lost a key source today. Launched in 2013, Thump, a branch of Vice devoted entirely to electronic dance music has received its eviction notice, delivered by none other than the very website to conceive Thump.

Vice’s extinguishing of Thump comes on the heels of the lay off of 2% of employees across various departments in the company. In addition to Thump’s closure is that of Vice Sports. Vice is said to now be shifting its focus to video.

Thump’s farewell was trumpeted by one of the site’s editors, Michelle Lhooq on Twitter, where Lhooq shared the link to what would be the last piece of coverage dictated by the outlet.
