The Chainsmokers Just Dropped a New Song With Coldplay, Listen Here:
When it comes to the release of new music, The Chainsmokers haven’t exactly remained quiet; let us not forget, after all, that 2017 single, “Paris,” was teased for months on The Chainsmokers’ Twitter account. Taggart and Pall's talkativeness in regard to new Chainsmokers branded tracks renders their newest collaboration with Coldplay a wonder given the lack of conversation about the track, out today. A glimpse of The Chainsmokers’ social media accounts shows no mention of the new song, nor do those of “Yellow” band, Coldplay.
The Chainsmokers notably notified members of their “pack” that a Chainsmokers/Coldplay team up was inevitable months ago in September when The Chainsmokers admitted via social media that they had recorded a song with the British rock band. Fast forward back to present time, and it seems everyone has forgotten that what is destined to be a legendary crossover between dance music and alternative/pop rock has been waiting patiently in the wings of The Chainsmokers’ music library. Spotify listeners noted that a new Chainsmokers track was imminent when a banner advertising the Chainsmokers/Coldplay joint initiative debuted on the streaming service yesterday, leading fans to believe that the track had leaked.
Titled “Something Just Like This,” the single pairs the trademarked vocals of Coldplay front man, Chris Martin, with a Chainsmokers supplied drop reminiscent of the drop that defined the 2015 Rozes feature of the summer, “Roses.” Something Just Like This emerges as a track cousin to Roses, the intimate quality of the song’s lyrics and the track’s minimalistic drop almost familial in their likening to those of Roses’s.
The single will undoubtedly become a fixture of The Chainsmokers’ sets on their newly begun 2017 tour in commemoration of their debut studio album, “Memories: Do Not Open,” yet may likewise be expected to appear on Coldplay’s set list—the band having recently announced a 2017 tour beginning on Friday, March 31st for their new album “A Head Full of Dreams.”
"Something Just Like This" has yet to be uploaded to either YouTube or SoundCloud, rendering listening possible only through Spotify, where the song may be listened to at it's full length. You heard it first from Crust Nation.
