Axwell ^ Ingrosso Stun Terminal 5, Drop Gorgeous Alesso Remix of "Something Just Like This"
A precursor to their pending performance at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival this week, where the SHM derived duo will close the festival on its second day of production on March 25th, Axwell ^ Ingrosso touched down in New York City this weekend to deliver back to back sets to Terminal 5 attendees on Friday and Saturday evening.
A tasteful blend of the throwbacks on which mainstream EDM has been built—“Reload,” for one—and new material—Axwell ^ Ingrosso notably debuted their latest, the Kid Ink collab, “I Love You”—the “Sun Is Shining” producers stunned the sold out venue, verifying in a sea of multicolored lasers and captivating visual productions that the duo’s ability to put on a stellar show would not be compromised by a change of venue; the pair was originally slated to play Brooklyn’s Depot 52 warehouse, but was relocated to Terminal 5 in light of recent issues with the warehouse.
Of the various notable moments of the b2b sets, Axwell ^ Ingrosso previewed Alesso’s official remix of The Chainsmokers/Coldplay chart climber, “Something Just Like This.” Alesso’s re-imagination of the track answers complaints made by listeners that the drop on the U.K. collab is too close in nature to that of 2015 hit, “Roses.” Noticeably more upbeat, infused with powerful percussion, the Alesso engineered remix is duly club and dance friendly, attributes missed on the more ballad like original version.
Attendees of Ultra Music Festival can reasonably expect the duo to likewise drop the fiery remix at their closing set slot this week, but for now, sample the remake—and Axwell ^ Ingrosso’s impressive T5 localized production—below.
